Ukrzaliznytsia has announced a change in the approach to ticket pricing, which actually means an increase in their price for some passengers. Starting April 25, the company is introducing a so-called \u201cfloating\u201d pricing system for SV (luxury) and 1st class compartments of Intercity high-speed trains that run between cities.<\/p>\n
This is a transition to a dynamic model, when the ticket price will no longer be fixed. Instead, it will change depending on a number of factors \u2014 in particular, the season, day of the week, time of ticket purchase, and the level of occupancy of the car. This approach has long been used in air transportation and is gradually being introduced by railway companies in different countries.<\/p>\n
In fact, this means that passengers will have to pay more during periods of increased demand. The most expensive trips will be in the summer season, during holidays, and on days with the highest passenger traffic \u2014 from Friday to Sunday. In addition, the price will increase in the case of late booking of tickets or if there are a limited number of seats left in the car.<\/p>\n
At the same time, for those who plan trips in advance and choose less popular dates, the new system may partially provide an opportunity to save. However, the general trend indicates a gradual increase in the cost of travel in more comfortable categories.<\/p>\n
Separately, the company announced an increase in tariffs for international transportation: prices for luxury class tickets will increase by 20%. This decision is explained by the increase in costs for servicing rolling stock, energy resources and infrastructure, as well as the need to bring tariffs to an economically justified level.<\/p>\n
