The National Bank has begun a new phase of cash renewal. The withdrawal includes 50 and 200 hryvnia banknotes printed from 2003 to 2007. The NBU reports this.<\/p>\n
The regulator\u2019s decision is selective. Not all fifty and two hundred hryvnia banknotes are being withdrawn from circulation, but only old-style banknotes. Modern banknotes issued since 2014 remain in full circulation without restrictions.<\/p>\n
For ordinary citizens, the replacement will be imperceptible. Old banknotes remain legal tender, so they are freely used in stores, markets, transport and other establishments. There are no special applications to banks, queues or documents for exchange.<\/p>\n
Withdrawal takes place through commercial banks. During customer settlements and collection, outdated banknotes end up at cash desks, after which financial institutions stop issuing them again and accumulate them separately. The collected cash is taken to the National Bank, where it is counted and sent for full recycling.<\/p>\n
Instead, the regulator fills the cash desks of banks with similar denominations of the new generation. The ultimate goal is to form the hryvnia banknote and coin series exclusively from secure banknotes of the modern model.<\/p>\n
Owners of old fifty and two hundred dolars do not need to do anything special. Sooner or later, the note will get to the bank through trade, collection or cash desk and will not return to circulation from there. The NBU has not set any time limits or deadlines for citizens.<\/p>\n
If you were given a banknote of the 2003-2007 model at the bank cash desk, that’s normal, it’s still in circulation. But gradually there will be less of such money until it completely disappears from wallets.<\/p>\n
The process is part of a large-scale hryvnia modernization that has been going on for several years. Previously, paper banknotes of 1, 2, 5, and 10 hryvnias were withdrawn from circulation, replacing them with coins.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
