An increasing number of Ukrainians are discovering that parts of their insurance record\u2014the period during which they contributed to the pension system\u2014are missing from the official registry or are not recorded at all. The Pension Fund warns that a single technical error can cause an individual to lose credit for several years of work\u2014or, in some cases, their entire employment history.<\/p>\n
Most often, these issues stem from errors in personal data. If an employer\u2019s reports contain an incorrect surname, date of birth, or identification code, the system cannot automatically verify the individual’s service record. People typically only become aware of this when applying for a pension, at which point they find that some of their employment records have not been accounted for.<\/p>\n
Another widespread issue involves the incomplete or late payment of the Unified Social Contribution (USC). If an employer made irregular contributions or paid only the minimum required amount, those months may not be fully credited. Consequently, an employee might appear to have the same length of service as their colleagues on paper, while in reality, their credited service is shorter due to gaps in contribution payments.<\/p>\n
Difficulties also arise regarding work periods that predate the digitalization of records\u2014specifically those from the 1990s and early 2000s. In many instances, enterprises have been liquidated, archives have been lost, and data was never transferred to electronic registries.
