PFU will go through apartments: what will they definitely check?

In 2026, Ukrainians who receive state subsidies or benefits may be subject to inspection by the Pension Fund of Ukraine. The purpose of such inspections is to make sure that the assistance is actually received by those who need it, and that the family meets all the criteria for calculating payments.

Inspections are carried out in several main cases. First, if housing is rented out and subsidies are received, the PFU wants to make sure that the assistance is not used illegally. Secondly, apartments and houses with several separate personal accounts attract attention. An inspection is also possible if the number of people actually living in the apartment does not match the registration or declaration data. Another case is the use of electrical appliances or other energy sources for heating, which require confirmation of their costs.

During the inspection, PFU specialists draw up an Act of Inspection of Material and Living Conditions. This is an official document that reflects the results of the inspection of housing and living conditions. On its basis, the fund determines whether the family meets the requirements for receiving subsidies and benefits.

The checks concern not only housing and communal services assistance, but also other types of social payments. For example, monthly payments to people who care for people with disabilities of the first or second group due to mental illness may come under control. Assistance to single mothers or low-income families is also checked to make sure that housing is not rented out and the assistance is really intended for those who need it.

If violations or false data are discovered during the check, the calculation of the subsidy may be suspended or canceled altogether. This means that it is important to always provide accurate information and follow the rules for receiving state assistance. In this way, the PFU seeks to ensure that social support reaches those who really need it and avoid abuse.
