As of July 1, the total amount of deposits of individuals (including individual entrepreneurs, “FOPs”) in Ukrainian banks amounted to UAH 1.478 trillion. At the same time, most of the deposits were made in state-owned banks. And the leader among currencies is the hryvnia – the amount of deposits in it is estimated at UAH 959.9 billion. This was reported by the Deposit Guarantee Fund of Individuals (DGFI). They noted:
In foreign currency, Ukrainians hold an amount equivalent to UAH 518.7 billion.
In general, for the first half of 2025, the total increase in citizens’ deposits amounted to UAH 86.4 billion. And the real growth (excluding the negative revaluation of the hryvnia equivalent of foreign currency deposits) was UAH 91.1 billion.
“The share of individual entrepreneurs in the structure of depositors as of July 1, 2025 was 3.2%, and in the structure of the amount of deposits – 11.3%. The amount of their deposits was UAH 167.6 billion,” the report says. It is emphasized that the majority of depositors hold from UAH 10 to 200,000 in banks. Such 56.95% of the total. Also, a considerable number of Ukrainians have small deposits – up to UAH 10. Such 41.13%.
Only 0.58% of depositors hold more than UAH 600,000 in banks. And from UAH 200,000 to 400,000 – 0.97%.
In general, the majority of deposits – 70.2% – are demand deposits. That is, they can be withdrawn at any time without prior notice to the bank. The smallest – for a period exceeding 1 year. Such are only 0.78%.
In which banks do Ukrainians carry money
At the same time, it is noted that the majority of Ukrainians keep money in banks in which the state has a share. Such are 61.6% of the total number. Another 20.8% made deposits in private banks. And 17.6% – in banks of foreign groups.
