Ukrainians face new utility tariffs

An increase in utility tariffs cannot be avoided. Household consumers should prepare for a new wave of price increases. This was reported by housing and utilities expert Oleg Popenko on the air of “Novyny.Live”.

The first tariff increase is possible already this year. The cost of electricity may increase by 20%. This corresponds to the recommendations of international partners and the plans of the Cabinet of Ministers.

“This was written down since last year in the documents that were submitted in the recommendations of the International Monetary Fund. And in the actions of the Cabinet of Ministers, which also prescribed the need to increase utility tariffs. In their letter to the Ministry of Economy last year, responding to a request, they wrote that they plan to increase utility tariffs by 20% annually from 2026 to 2028,” Popenko said.

By 2028, the tariff will be about 7.5 UAH/kW. An increase in gas tariffs is also expected, which will affect the cost of heat and hot water.

In the coming years, the Ukrainian government must improve the system of social protection for citizens.
