People’s Deputy of Ukraine Yuzhanina told how much money the state company “Energoatom” spends on protecting its management.
During the war and in conditions of budget deficit, the expenses of state bodies and companies require special attention. The Verkhovna Rada has repeatedly criticized the authorities’ decisions regarding secondary expenses, which must be reduced during the war.
People’s Deputy Nina Yuzhanina said that the state company “Energoatom” insured the supervisory board in case of arrests, fines and even expenses for psychological assistance.
“The state company concluded an insurance contract for 19.3 million UAH with PrJSC “SK Colonnade Ukraine” — without a competition, because other participants did not apply. The insured amount is almost 391 million UAH, and the tariff is 4.9%,” she said.
According to the MP, the compensation is provided not only for legal expenses, but also for bail, extradition proceedings, reputational risks, psychological assistance and even car replacement: for arrest or preventive measures – up to UAH 500 thousand per case; for restoring reputation – up to UAH 100 thousand; for psychological assistance – UAH 50 thousand; for car replacement – UAH 10 thousand. The scope of insurance coverage is the whole world, except for the USA and Canada.
“Formally, this is management liability insurance. But in practice, it looks like an attempt to insure against the consequences of its own decisions, including criminal or financial ones. And the main question: is it normal for a state-owned company to spend tens of millions on “protection” of its management – instead of investing in the security of the energy system,” Yuzhanina summarized.
