Does Ukraine sell electricity abroad during power outages?

In the conditions of massive power outages in Ukraine, the country does not sell electricity to Europe. This is assured by NPC Ukrenergo. All electricity generated by Ukrainian nuclear power plants, hydroelectric power plants, thermal power plants and combined heat and power plants is used exclusively for domestic consumption.

Damaged power plants and growing consumer needs

Massive missile and drone attacks damaged large power plants, which significantly reduced their production capacity. The needs of Ukrainian consumers remain high, so all resources are directed to ensuring the domestic market.

Technical flows are not electricity exports

The Ukrainian power system is integrated with the European one. Technical flows between Ukraine and neighboring countries (Poland, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, Moldova) are a natural phenomenon, not commercial exports. Electricity that is temporarily sent abroad immediately returns to Ukraine.
