What’s changing from February 1: salary supplements, tariffs, pensions

February 2026 brought us a number of changes. Some schools extended their vacations, utility workers and energy workers were provided with additional payments to their salaries, and for critical enterprises, the rules for booking employees were changed again. We will tell you about what else awaits Ukrainians in February below.

Utility tariffs

Prices for some housing and communal services may increase during the year, but such plans are not yet known in the near future. Recall that the following utility tariffs are currently in effect for 2026:

for gas – 7.96 UAH per cubic meter for Naftogaz subscribers;

for heating – approximately 40-50 UAH per square meter;

for electricity – 4.32 UAH/kWh.

The water tariff depends on the region.

Pension in Ukraine 2026

The minimum pension in Ukraine increased on January 1, 2026, when the subsistence minimum was raised. Currently, payments to pensioners with sufficient experience cannot be less than 2,595 hryvnias. The government says that pensions in Ukraine will soon be increased, and Ukrainian pensioners will receive at least 6,000 hryvnias. However, there is no corresponding bill yet.

Recall that the next indexation of pensions is scheduled for March 1, 2026, and during this month the government will announce the coefficient by which payments will be recalculated.

Winter holidays 2026

In Kyiv and some other regions, winter holidays will be extended for children. This decision was made against the backdrop of shelling of infrastructure combined with severe frosts, due to which schools have practically no heating and electricity. Some schools have also switched to distance learning. The same rules may apply to students. Universities recommended extending the holidays until at least February 8, but each educational institution makes its own decision.

Reservation from mobilization 2026

On February 1, 2026, the Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 1608, which simplified the process of providing reservations, expires. The new reservation rules provide that from February, employers will again receive 72 hours to reserve an employee. Recall that previously, a temporary accelerated reservation regime was in effect – critical event workers were given a deferral almost instantly. But from February, this process may again take three days. Some employees of energy companies and utilities involved in eliminating the consequences of Russian strikes will receive full reservation from mobilization – this was announced by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.

Additional payments to energy workers

Volodymyr Zelensky also announced additional payments of 20 thousand hryvnias for January, February and March 2026 for all Ukrainians participating in emergency and recovery work.

Thus, the salaries of utility workers, energy workers, Ukrzaliznytsia employees, and gas workers will increase by 20 thousand for three consecutive months, or by 60 thousand for all three months. Additional payments for January will be received in February. Those who are entitled to the allowance will receive a notification on their mobile phone or in “Diya”.

eHousing Program 2026

As reported by “Ukrfinzhytlo”, from February 9, the requirements for the area of housing provided under the “eHousing” program will change:

for apartments – an area of no more than 52.5 m² for one or two family members + 21 m² for each additional one, but no more than 115.5 m² in total;

for residential buildings – no more than 62.5 m² for one or two family members + 21 m² for others, but no more than 125.5 m² in total.

For new housing up to 3 years old, the norms are allowed to be exceeded by no more than 10%.

5G technology in Ukraine

In 2026, pilot projects of 5G communication began to be launched in Ukraine, which provide ultra-fast Internet. At the moment, stations have already been installed in Lviv and Borodyanka. It is possible that in February the project will cover new settlements.

IDP payments

From February 1, new payments are possible for displaced persons, namely children from such families – this is reported by People’s Deputy Danylo Hetmantsev. It is expected that each child from among IDPs will receive 3,000 hryvnias from the state, but a specific resolution has not yet been adopted by the government.
