More than 763 thousand individual entrepreneurs have been opened in Ukraine since the beginning of the large-scale invasion. At the same time, 685 thousand entrepreneurs have ceased their activities during the same period. This is reported by Opendatabot with reference to data from the Unified State Register.
As noted, in general, most often entrepreneurs who opened after the beginning of the large-scale invasion chose retail trade as their main field of activity – this is 28.1% or 214.2 thousand entrepreneurs. The top three also included IT – 9.1% (69.5 thousand) and wholesale trade – 7.2% (54.6 thousand).
Compared to the period before the beginning of the large-scale invasion, new cases in the field of postal and courier activities increased 3 times. The number of new individual entrepreneurs related to education increased 2.6 times, and in the field of finance – 2.5 times.
At the same time, less often businesses were opened in the IT sector and trade in motor/auto transport.
It is noted that if in January 2022 every second new individual entrepreneur was opened by women, now the share of such businesses is 61%. The largest number of female entrepreneurs among new individual entrepreneurs is in Khmelnytskyi (60.5%), Kirovohrad (60.1%) and Poltava regions (59.4%).
Women are more likely to open businesses in the services sector, education and clothing production, while men dominate in construction, transport and logistics.
The largest number of new individual entrepreneurs during the Great War was registered in Kyiv – 108,536, in Dnipropetrovsk region (68,377) and Lviv region (60,009). In regions close to the fighting, significantly fewer businesses are registered: Luhansk region — −85%, Kherson region — −67% and Donetsk region — −60% (in January 2025 compared to January 2022). At the same time, there was an increase in new entrepreneurs in Rivne region (+25%), Ivano-Frankivsk region (+10%) and Chernihiv region (+10%).
In total, 126 billion UAH in taxes were paid by individual entrepreneurs over almost 3 years of large-scale invasion.
