Naftogaz has already restored half of the natural gas production that was lost due to Russian attacks in February this year. This was stated by Naftogaz CEO Roman Chumak during a briefing at the Ministry of Energy, Dzerkalo Tyzhnia reports.
“In the first three months of this year, the enemy launched more than 8 missile and drone attacks on the Group’s facilities. This is more than 100 hits,” Chumak recalled. He noted that in the crisis situation, Naftogaz had to sharply increase gas imports, which allowed it to provide Ukrainians with heat this winter.
“Not a single Ukrainian has experienced a gas shortage or a heat shortage,” he added. According to him, preparations for the next winter have already begun.
“Naftogaz has begun preparations for next winter with a grant from Norway of 140 million euros and a loan from the EBRD of 270 million euros,” the report says.
It was reported that during the current year, electricity and gas prices are likely to increase. The Association of Energy and Natural Resources of Ukraine warned about this. Since money is needed to resume production and purchase of imported gas.
