The National Energy Company Ukrenergo reported on the conditions under which it will be possible to avoid power outages in the summer. The company’s management emphasized that ensuring a stable power supply directly depends on the absence of massive attacks by the Russian Federation on the country’s energy infrastructure.
Controlled situation in the power system
Acting Acting Chairman of the Board of Ukrenergo Oleksiy Brecht stated that the current state of Ukraine’s power system is completely controlled. According to him, the power industry has the ability not only to import, but also to export electricity under favorable conditions.
“If we put aside the question of whether there will be shelling or not, then I have no doubt that we will normally go through the summer and autumn periods, and also prepare for winter in a timely and high-quality manner… If they do not shoot (Russian military at Ukrainian power facilities – ed.), then there will be no power outages in the summer.”
2024 Outage and System Stabilization
In 2024, as a result of massive missile and drone strikes on energy facilities, Ukrainian consumers faced electricity supply restrictions and outage schedules. The situation began to level out in the fall, when the intensity of attacks on energy infrastructure decreased sharply, as well as consumption. Thanks to these factors, energy companies managed to restore balance in the system. At the same time, industrial consumers remained under restrictions in the spring of 2025.
