Ukrenergo explained why it is impossible to predict the stability of electricity supply

Ukrainians are urged to be understanding of possible power outages.

Ukrenergo urges Ukrainians to be understanding of the situation in the power system. The company is working on the stability of electricity supply, but due to the cold snap and constant strikes by the Russian Federation, it is not yet possible to predict whether there will be power outages in the coming week.

This was stated by the acting head of Derzhenergonahlyd Anatoly Zamulkot during a telethon.

Commenting on the question of the prospect of power outages, the director of the Ukrenergo transmission system management Volodymyr Zamulko emphasized that it is practically impossible to predict the situation for several days or weeks ahead. The main reason is the unpredictability of shelling and increased energy consumption during the cold period.

“Well, let’s do it this way. Today, Ukrenergo and the entire power system are working to ensure stability, at least to maintain what is there. “If we don’t have any additional hits, and unfortunately, they happen all the time,” he said.

According to the acting head of Derzhenergonyd, the Ukrainian power system is constantly strengthening its networks and carrying out restoration work in the regions that were affected by Russian shelling.

He noted that it is currently difficult to make forecasts for a week or two in advance, because the country is entering a cold period, when electricity consumption – in particular for heating – will increase significantly. Because of this, we need to be prepared for possible difficulties, although energy professionals are doing everything they can to minimize the consequences of the attacks.

The official also emphasized that if the situation stabilizes and the destruction stops, the power system will be able to gradually restore normal electricity supply to the population.
