There is an ongoing discussion on the network about whether Ukraine needs new nuclear power units. Opinions of energy experts were divided for certain reasons.

Energy expert Gennady Ryabtsev told 24 Kanal that one of the problems is whether Energoatom knows how much water is needed for all power units of the Khmelnytsky NPP.
He believes that this decision is a “waste of money” because a huge pile of concrete will need to be poured into the ground at the Khmelnytskyi NPP.
Is Energoatom a profitable company? No, because she is currently suffering considerable losses. Then who are they going to take money from for construction projects? Do they want the US to finance everything instead of helping to restore Ukraine’s destroyed energy system?” Ryabtsev said.
Instead, energy expert Yuriy Korolchuk said that Ukraine really needs nuclear power generation. The construction of new power units will allow maneuvering and, accordingly, lowering and increasing power when it is really necessary.
Note! The cost of construction of units 3 and 4 at the Khmelnitsky NPP, according to the 2018 project, was estimated at 80 billion hryvnias. However, taking inflation into account, the price today is 130 billion hryvnias.
