The Ministry of Economy announced the introduction of a 5-year moratorium on business inspections

The new Ukrainian government plans to introduce a 5-year moratorium on business inspections. This was announced by the Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture Oleksiy Sobolev during the presentation of the new government’s action plan, a hromadske correspondent reports.

“In general, the goal is to relieve pressure on business. This applies to both market surveillance authorities and law enforcement agencies, first of all, except for the excise tax group, because we all understand that there are problems there,” Sobolev said.

According to him, this is a complex mechanism that will need to be monitored “through a lot of different authorities.” In particular, the government is cooperating with the Prosecutor General’s Office to “see what they can control.”

“There are things that will also be worked out with the BEB in order to understand how they do it. We are talking about market surveillance separately. In general, we are shifting market supervision to a risk-based approach so that only risky companies that do not pay taxes — they are very often seen — will be inspected,” the minister noted.

A moratorium is in place for the rest — “white business.” Sobolev added that this is a very practical tool that will need to be constantly monitored and updated.

Earlier, Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko stated that the government, together with law enforcement agencies, is preparing to introduce a one-year moratorium on business inspections. On July 21, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced that the National Security and Defense Council had introduced a moratorium on business inspections by state bodies. Zelensky clarified that this refers to any interference by state agencies in entrepreneurial activity.
