Hetmantsev is outraged by the delay in canceling the special clan pensions of prosecutors

The Verkhovna Rada deputy from the “Servant of the People” faction, the head of the parliamentary committee on finance, tax and customs policy, Danylo Hetmantsev, is outraged by the delay in the abolition of special clan pensions for prosecutors. He reported this in a telegram, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

“For almost 200 days (!!!) bill No. 12278 on the abolition of special clan pensions for prosecutors has not been able to reach the second reading. The price of such delay is the deepening of the social gap in pension provision. While millions of Ukrainian pensioners are forced to survive on 2-3 or 5 thousand hryvnias, certain categories of privileged persons continue to receive sky-high payments of hundreds of thousands of hryvnias,” the deputy wrote.

He added that at a time when the country is at war, and every budget hryvnia should work for the defense and social support of vulnerable categories of citizens, such inequality looks not just unfair, but cynical.

As an example, Hetmantsev cited the former prosecutor of the Mykolaiv region, who, according to media reports, now lives in one of the European countries, was able to win a lawsuit against the Pension Fund even from abroad and demanded a disability pension in accordance with the Law of Ukraine “On the Prosecutor’s Office” – 156,692 hryvnias per month.

“I urge my colleagues – we cannot delay and allow the consideration of bill No. 12278 to be delayed in the second reading. Clans cannot win – justice must win. Pension reform with the provision of decent payments for all Ukrainians, not just the “chosen ones”, with real, not declarative gratitude and guarantees for the defenders who are currently defending us – this is what should be a priority,” the deputy concluded.

As Ukrainian News Agency reported, in July 2025, the Social Policy Committee, overcoming fierce opposition, recommended that the Verkhovna Rada adopt in the second reading and as a whole a bill on the abolition of special pensions for prosecutors. The document stipulates that pensions for long service to prosecutors will be paid only after dismissal from positions that give the right to appropriate pension benefits; in case of continued work in such positions, the payment will be terminated. The project also takes into account social exceptions – pensions will continue to be paid to persons with disabilities of groups I and II, combatants and other specified categories. The Cabinet of Ministers will be instructed to develop legislative proposals by December 2025 on the unification of remuneration for prosecutors, including the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office.
