Over 250 thousand individual entrepreneurs closed in Ukraine in 11 months of 2025

250,209 individual entrepreneurs have closed since the beginning of 2025 in Ukraine, according to Opendatabot. The peak of closures fell on January – then, after a month and a half break in the work of the registers, 59,723 entrepreneurs immediately documented their closure.

2 years and 4 months is the average term of operation of an individual entrepreneur in Ukraine.

Every eighth entrepreneur who closed in 2025 worked in Kyiv: 32,469 individual entrepreneurs. Dnipropetrovsk region is in second place in terms of closures – 22,645 entrepreneurs ceased their activities last year. Small businesses were closed with a small margin in Kharkiv (20,481), Odesa (18,714) and Lviv (16,521) regions.

The most vulnerable last year were individual entrepreneurs working in retail trade – they account for a third of closures (77,705). On average, such businesses have existed for less than 3 years. Another 16,909 individual entrepreneurs in the wholesale trade sector ceased their work in 2025 – such entrepreneurs barely make it through a year in their work. In general, almost half of the closures are in the trade niche alone.

By a wide margin, IT professionals came second in terms of the number of closures – 28,668 or every ninth entrepreneur who closed last year. At the same time, IT professionals are also among the long-lived entrepreneurs – 3 years and 11 months.

The longest-lived in Ukraine are individual entrepreneurs engaged in warehousing – such entrepreneurs have worked for more than 6 years.

Entrepreneurs in the real estate sector have worked for 5 years and 11 months. The three businesses in the field of repair of appliances, in particular, household appliances, close: 5 years and 9 months.

But the least resilient are the sole proprietors-couriers – only 6 months, on average, worked by entrepreneurs who closed in this field last year. Sole proprietors in the field of administrative and auxiliary office activities stay afloat for 9 months. Entrepreneurs in the aforementioned wholesale trade and educators work for barely more than a year.
