The Ministry of Energy assured: electricity tariffs will not be revised until April 2025

The price of electricity for household consumers will not be revised until April 30, 2025. This is stated in the answer of the Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Galushchenko to the request of the People’s Deputy Oleksiy Kucherenko.

From June 1, the tariff for electricity for the population is UAH 4.32/kWh. Assuming an average electricity consumption of 170 kWh, the payment for electricity is 285 hryvnias.

Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko explained that the previous tariff of 2.64 hryvnias covered only a third of the real cost of electricity, and emphasized that if Russia had not systematically destroyed Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, the tariffs would have remained unchanged.

“Tariff increase is a difficult but necessary step. The goal is not to run out of light, to maintain the system. A large-scale reconstruction awaits us, which requires huge efforts and funds,” the minister said.

At the same time, the head of the department emphasized: in the current conditions, it is impossible to allow the tariff to be raised to the market level – 7.5 UAH/kWh.

Prior to that, in May, the sociological group “Rating” conducted a survey, which showed that 55% of Ukrainians are sympathetic to the increase in tariffs in order to ensure the repair of destroyed infrastructure facilities.

After the tariff increase, information was spread in the network that Energoatom allegedly began to receive additional income from Ukrainian consumers. However, the company denied these rumors.
