Some Ukrainians will pay for electricity at preferential rates tomorrow. We tell you how electricity bills will change in October.
In Ukraine, from October 1, 2025, families using electric heating will receive a significant reduction in the cost of electricity. For the first 2 thousand kWh per month, they will pay 2.64 UAH per kWh instead of 4.32 UAH. We tell you about preferential rates with reference to the Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 632 of May 31, 2024.
Who will receive a discount on electricity from October 1
The preferential rate will be valid from October 1 to April 30. It is available to all consumers in Ukraine, but only if there is no alternative type of heating in the house. In addition, it is necessary to have properly executed documents for the equipment and compliance with technical requirements.
Owners of dual-zone meters will also have an additional benefit. At night, from 23:00 to 07:00, they will pay 2.16 UAH per kWh instead of the standard 4.32 UAH. During the day, the tariff will remain unchanged. Thus, the transition to night consumption will significantly reduce bills.
What will happen next with electricity tariffs
From time to time, rumors appear about future changes in the cost of electricity, but none of these scenarios are currently being seriously considered. According to experts, after the war ends, the country will gradually abandon the subsidy system under the Public Service Obligation (PSO) mechanism. Currently, it obliges suppliers to sell electricity at a fixed tariff.
