During 2024, Ukraine transported about 11.36 million tons of Russian oil to Europe through the southern branch of the Druzhba oil pipeline. This is the lowest value since 2014, and possibly even since 1991. This is reported by the ExPro publication.
“Compared to last year, the volume of Russian oil transit decreased by 16%. This is also the lowest value at least since 2014, and probably in the entire history of Ukraine’s independence – since 1991,” the material says.
Pro-Russian Hungary (4.7 million tons, at the 2023 level) and Slovakia (3.9 million tons, -15% of 2023 volumes) received the most oil last year. The Czech Republic received 2.7 million tons (-35% of 2023 volumes). For this transit, Ukraine received 250 million US dollars, that is, only 5 million dollars less than in 2023.
In January 2025, oil transit, unlike gas transit, continues. The Russian Federation pumps approximately 35 thousand tons of oil through Ukraine per day.
