Due to increased competition in the labor market, Ukrainian employers are forced to raise wages. The main reason for the increase in wages is the acute shortage of workers.
The shortage of workers is increasing
In the macroeconomic and monetary review of the National Bank, it is said that the combination of increased social benefits and low inflation contributes to the further growth of real incomes of the population. The lack of workers remains significant and continues to put upward pressure on wages, the NBU explains.
The number of employees increased slightly, which is mainly due to seasonal factors. However, in general, the number of new vacancies on job search sites in June remained practically at the same level. This is despite the fact that usually during this period they “grow seasonally, in particular due to the beginning of the harvest”.
What other employees are critically needed?
In addition, the demand for builders is growing significantly. According to the director of the Scientific and Technical Center of the Academy of Construction of Ukraine, Ivan Pereghinets, Ukraine will need about 1.5 million construction workers in the next 5-10 years.
Note! Russia has already destroyed more than 60 million square meters of living space in the country. Pereghinets also noted that before the start of the full-scale war in Ukraine, there were only 300,000 construction workers.
