In Ukraine, starting July 1, 2025, the voltage standard will change from 220 to 230 volts. Consumers will not feel any changes, as the transition to the new voltage standard will not affect the amounts in electricity bills. This was reported by the DTEK press service.
DTEK reminded that consumers pay for the electricity consumed. Voltage is simply the pressure in the system, not the amount of electricity.
“Your bills will not change. You pay for the electricity consumed, that is, kilowatt-hours. Voltage is simply the pressure in the system, not the amount of electricity. There will be no new figures in the receipts because of this,” DTEK assured.
What to do if the voltage exceeds the norm
This is a local problem. There may be problems with the transformer or the power line in the house. To resolve the issue, open your operator’s chatbot and go to the “Possible outages” section. If the voltage at home often drops to 200 volts, and then rises to 240 volts, this is within the permissible norm. According to the standard, the voltage can be up to 253 volts.
“Simply adjust the relay. The lower threshold is 207, the upper one is 253. If the relay does not trip, then everything is working correctly. The relay is stable at 230 V. Is this normal? This is ideal. This indicator means that the network is operating according to the new standard, stably and without overloads,” DTEK explained.
Is there a threat to household appliances due to the transition to 230 volts
Previously, we wrote that from July 1, 2025, the voltage standard in Ukraine will change from 220 to 230 volts. This is part of the systemic changes, consumers should not worry about household appliances.
“From July 1, 2025, the voltage standard in Ukraine will change from 220 to 230 volts. This is part of systemic changes. For over three years, our power system has been operating synchronously with the European one. And the transition to 230 volts is simply the next step. Within the framework of the new voltage standard, a deviation of 10% is now possible, from 207 volts to 253 volts. Therefore, take this into account when setting up voltage relays in homes,” DTEK said.
Should we worry about household appliances?
Not at all. Modern appliances are manufactured according to EU standards, where 230 volts has been the norm for many years. The most important thing is not the number itself, but the stability of the voltage in the network.
“Energy engineers work on this every day, despite all the challenges. So everything is under control. The new voltage standard is another step towards energy European integration,” DTEK emphasized.
