As a sign of support, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) will cover from its own budget Ukraine’s contributions for 2024 and partnership fees for a number of its bodies, as well as Ukraine’s debt for 2022 and previous years. As reported by Ukrinform, this was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Economy.
“In general, we are talking about the allocation of almost 285 thousand euros. In particular, this money will be used to pay Ukraine’s contributions to the International Transport Forum, the Steel Committee, the OECD Seed Schemes and the Global Forum on Transparency and Information Exchange for Tax Purposes, as well as its partnership contributions to the Committee on on competition issues, the Committee on Public Governance, the Committee on SMEs and Entrepreneurship, the Inclusive Mechanism of the initiative on the erosion of the tax base and the removal of profit from taxation, the Working Group on Combating Bribery,” the message reads.
Yulia Svyridenko, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine, noted that Ukraine highly values the support provided by the OECD.
According to her, with the OECD, “we are focused on investment incentives, investment promotion and deregulation, expanding the support of the Export Credit Agency (EKA) in Ukraine and their coverage of 100% of investment risks, and reclassifying the risk group of our country from group 7 back to group 6. to make risk insurance more affordable”.
As reported, OECD Secretary General Matthias Kormann said that even during the war, Ukraine’s economic prospects inspire him with optimism. At the plenary session of the Conference on the Recovery of Ukraine in Berlin in June 2024, he stated that his organization is implementing a four-year program in Ukraine, supports an ambitious agenda of structural reforms and focuses on helping to optimize opportunities for economic recovery.
