The share of the online marketplace Rozetka, together with Prom, which it has owned since 2018, in the Ukrainian market is about 50%, the company’s co-founders and co-owners Iryna and Vladislav Chechotkina said in an interview with the publication “Ekonomichna Pravda”.
“I think that together with Prom there will be about half of the market. But this is a question of the honesty and openness of our competitors: what they report, what the tax office sees and what those who provide these figures see,” Chechotkin said.
According to him, the estimate of 76% of the market is overestimated precisely because a significant part of the market is outside official reporting. The founders noted that as of now, the total number of sellers on the Rozetka and Prom marketplaces is under 100 thousand. They clarified that the procedures for verifying entrepreneurs on Rozetka and Prom are different: Prom is an open marketplace, and Rozetka is a closed one, where the legality of doing business is checked first.
“We check whether the seller has the right to trade in certain goods at all and what conditions he offers to customers,” explained Iryna Chechotkina.
When asked whether Rozetka is more of a retailer or a marketplace, Chechotkina replied that in terms of turnover in money, 1P sales still prevail – “sales of goods that we physically touch with our hands, that we store in our warehouses and that go through our logistics,” but the marketplace is already leading and growing much faster.
“Therefore, mentally we are already more of a marketplace, although this is a transformation of the last few years, that is, a smaller part of our history,” he stated and admitted that at some point this ratio may be 30 to 70 in favor of the marketplace.
The co-founders also reported that the sales volume of goods of the Rozetka marketplace in Poland, which has been officially operating since March 2023, already amounts to “hundreds of millions of euros per year. According to Chechotkina, at the beginning of the launch of the marketplace in Poland, the company relied on Ukrainians who came to the country and know what Rozetka is, but currently the absolute majority of the company’s clients are Poles.
“The share of Ukrainians among our clients is greater than the share of Ukrainians in the population of Poland. But still, the absolute majority of our customers are Poles,” the co-founder clarified.
She added that Rozetka in Poland is more of a startup, as it occupies a small market share, so the company should work more carefully on efficiency and quality.
“In general, it seems to me that this is a good example for Ukrainian companies: we can be successful not only in Ukraine,” Chechotkin noted.
The co-founders also noted that the marketplace has recorded an increase in demand for installments and loans over the past three years.
“At the same time, you need to understand that we ourselves offer installments through the Rozetka card and provide additional benefits for customers who apply for this card,” Chechotkina added.
According to an interview, more than 150 thousand customers have now become owners of the Rozetka card. Chechotkin added that a decrease in the average check is being recorded, as customers are buying more practical goods.
“But to say that we see some impoverishment, for example, that people have stopped We can’t afford expensive electronics or products. This is rather a moderate trend,” Chechotkin noted.
The YouControl system previously noted that the companies of the Rozetka corporate group received a total of UAH 30.2 billion in revenue in January-September 2025, which is 76% of the total revenue of the 10 largest online retailers. Rozetka was founded in 2005 in Kyiv by Vladislav and Iryna Chechotkin. Later, a fund managed by Horizon Capital became a co-owner of the company. Today, the company has transformed into a multi-category online marketplace, but is also developing a network of its own stores.
