Social media posts about alleged calls from Ukrainians to the tax office over online sales

Information is spreading online that Ukrainians have allegedly started receiving “letters of happiness” from the tax office. They say that people are being summoned to the State Tax Service to explain where the money on the card comes from.

“These are the invitations that have started coming to individuals who trade online without registering as individual entrepreneurs,” she wrote.

The letter, dated May 8, states the need to personally come to the Main Department of the Tax Office in Chernivtsi Oblast: “To provide an explanation, draw up and sign a protocol on an administrative offense based on the results of compliance with the requirements of the procedure for conducting economic activities in terms of operations with the acceptance of funds using the services of Nova Pay LLC.”

In the comments, the accountant noted that if you do not come to the tax office after receiving such a letter, you may receive a fine for unregistered activity. At the same time, Focus did not find a reaction from Nova Poshta representatives to these messages.

Users report in the comments that such letters are received en masse by people who made sales through Nova Poshta and received money on NovaPay or in cash as individuals. For example, a woman who bakes desserts to order wrote that she also received such a letter at the beginning of the year. She advises you to still go to the tax office and solve the problem. “You will be offered 2 options – 1. declare income and open fop, 2 cases will be taken to court, a fine of one thousand tax-free minimums (17,000 UAH and above),” the woman noted.

Another user of the social network Threads reported that she also received such a letter. She noted that they took an explanation from her and offered to pay taxes.

Letters from the tax office: fake or reality

Focus checked the data provided by Mr. Oleksandr regarding the status of the legal entity. Indeed, the YouControl portal indicates that the specified legal entity has ceased operations.
