Electricity supplier YASNO plans to provide aggregator services in the electricity market. This was stated by Yasno CEO Serhiy Kovalenko in an interview with Delo.ua.
“We are currently studying this option and working on creating an optimal business model to make the most of distributed generation and consumers’ ability to change consumption and make some profit from it,” said Kovalenko.
According to him, the company’s specialists are trying to understand how to automate processes in this niche, how prices will be formed in the markets, and what to do with consumers who want to join the aggregated group but have another supplier. At the same time, he noted that within a year YASNO will draw conclusions and begin to enter the aggregation market.
What is aggregation
Aggregation in the electricity market, according to the Law No. 3220-IX of June 30, 2023 “On Amendments to Certain Laws of Ukraine on the Restoration and “Green” Transformation of the Energy System of Ukraine”, is an activity to manage the capacity of distributed facilities for the production, consumption or storage of electricity for the purpose of buying and selling electricity, providing auxiliary services or balancing services in the electricity market. An aggregator, that is, a company with an appropriate license, combines these facilities into a single system to participate in balancing the energy system.
As of the end of May, the National Commission for Regulation in the Spheres of Energy and Utilities issued two licenses for this type of activity. One of them was received by Power Trading LLC, the other by Ness Smart Power LLC, which is part of the KNESS group of companies.
