Electricity in Ukraine will become more expensive: which Ukrainians will have to pay more

In May 2025, some Ukrainian consumers will face an increase in electricity tariffs. The reason for this was the cancellation of a special preferential tariff that was in effect for owners of houses with electric heating systems. This was reported by the energy company Yasno.
According to current rules, from October 1 to April 30, a reduced electricity tariff is in effect for household consumers with electric heating. Currently, they pay UAH 2.64 per kWh for the first 2,000 kWh per month. However, starting from May 1, this category of consumers will pay UAH 4.32 per kWh for electricity.
The Ukrainian government adopted Resolution No. 37 of January 17, 2025, which changed the mechanism for calculating the fixed cost of electricity for those who use it for heating. This decision led to a revision of the tariff policy.
At the moment, the tariffs look like this:
up to 2,000 kWh per month – 2.64 UAH/kWh;
over 2,000 kWh – 4.32 UAH/kWh.
At the moment, Ukraine has a tariff approved by Government Resolution No. 632 of May 31, 2024, but its validity period expires in April. The Cabinet of Ministers must decide whether to extend the current tariff or approve a new electricity price for next year.
Utilities in Ukraine – what is known
Recall, as Glavred reported, the Verkhovna Rada recently answered whether tariffs for electricity, water and gas distribution will increase. Thus, the head of the Verkhovna Rada committee Andriy Gerus noted that some tariffs changed in 2023, while others have remained unchanged since 2021.
In addition, it was explained whether to expect an increase in electricity tariffs. Unfortunately, the situation for the population remains difficult.
It was also announced that Ukrainians will receive a new gas bill starting in April. It was announced that new prices for building maintenance will be introduced.
