Ukrainians do not need to pay separately for a scheduled gas meter check if the device is in working order and the consumer has not damaged it. The cost of this service is already included in the gas distribution tariff. This was reported by the Transcarpathian branch of Gazmerezh.
A scheduled gas meter check is carried out once every eight years. It is organized by the gas distribution network operator, so the consumer does not have to pay extra for a standard check. If the meter is found to be in working order after the check, it is reinstalled. If the specialists detect a malfunction, they must determine the cause of the breakdown. When the meter failed through no fault of the homeowner, there is no reason to demand payment for the check from him. Such rules are provided for by the legislation in the field of metrology and the Code of Gas Distribution Systems.
Gazmerezh also drew attention to cases where consumers claim that they have already paid for such a service. For verification, you need to provide the owner’s details, address, personal account number and a document confirming payment. Therefore, there should be no separate bill for the scheduled verification of a working gas meter. The consumer already pays these costs as part of the gas distribution tariff.
