IMF begins approving assistance program for Ukraine

The total amount of the international aid package should be $ 27 billion.

The Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will receive a report on the loan program for Ukraine prepared by the fund’s staff in the coming days, on the basis of which the council should decide on the allocation of money to Kiev in early May, Bloomberg reports.

The report analyzes the economic situation in Ukraine, the forecast of its development and the country’s needs for financing, and also suggests a set of steps that Kiev should take within the framework of a program agreed with international lenders.

Usually, according to the source of the agency, the members of the council have two weeks to study the documents on the loan, but this time this period can be reduced to a week.

The total amount of the international aid package for Ukraine should be $ 27 billion, of which the IMF will provide $ 18 billion.

Earlier, the Ukrainian side said that it expects the IMF Executive Council to make a decision on a loan of $ 14-18 billion by the end of April.
