11 years of prison for ex-suddy: the Supreme Court has scheduled a hearing

The Supreme Court has scheduled a hearing for June 18 to review the appeal against the verdict, which sentenced the former judge of the Babushkin District Court of Dnipro Andrii Leonov to 11 years in prison for receiving $15,000 in illegal benefits.

Such a decision was adopted by the Criminal Court of Cassation on February 14, “Slovo i Dilo” reports.

“To appoint a cassation hearing of the criminal proceedings against (Andrii Leonov – editor) at 11:00 a.m. on June 18, 2024, notifying the person who filed the cassation appeal and other participants in the court proceedings of the date, time and place of the hearing,” the decision reads .

As you know, on March 27, 2023, the High Anti-Corruption Court found Andriy Leonov, a former judge of the Babushkin District Court of Dnipro, guilty. He was sentenced to 11 years of imprisonment with confiscation of all property and was prohibited from holding the post of judge for 3 years after serving the main sentence. On November 2, the Appeals Chamber left this sentence unchanged. Leonov himself filed a cassation appeal.

We will remind, according to the indictment, in 2018, the judge of the Babushkin district court of Dnipro Andriy Leonov demanded an illegal benefit for recognizing the victim of the farm and for passing a sentence not related to deprivation of liberty in criminal proceedings on charges of raiding and forging documents.
