The State Service for Food and Consumer Protection of Ukraine fined pharmacies almost 2 million hryvnias for inflated drug prices. After the restoration of control over drug prices, the service conducted 776 inspections. This is reported by Dnipro Region.
Administrative and economic sanctions of 1.8 million hryvnias were applied to violators. Administrative fines of 163.7 thousand hryvnias were also imposed on officials of business entities.
The State Service for Food and Consumer Protection of Ukraine reports that it received 1,239 complaints from citizens about the sale of drugs at inflated prices. Most often, residents of Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Poltava, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Khmelnytskyi, Cherkasy regions and Kyiv complained about expensive medications.
As a reminder, in March, wholesale prices were reduced for more than 100 drugs. From April 1, for another 116 drugs. The range of discounts should be from 52% to 5%. But 5% is for a very expensive drug. In total, Minister Lyashko promised to reduce prices for 222 drugs.

If the drug costs up to 100 UAH, the pharmacy can apply a markup of no more than 25%. If the price is from 100 to 500 UAH, the markup should be no more than 20%. If the cost is from 500 to 1000 UAH – up to 15% markup. And if the drug costs more than 1000 UAH, the pharmacy can apply only up to 10% markup
