Foreign investors are interested in the privatization of two Ukrainian banks

Foreign investors are interested in the privatization of two Ukrainian state banks. It is about “Ukrgasbank” and “Sens Bank”.

Deputy Minister of Finance Yuriy Draganchuk told about this in a comment to “EP”.

“The state has a strategy to reduce the banking sector, its presence and its participation in it. But you have to look at things realistically. The market is now such that you yourself understand, “Privatbank” is the bank in which the state is ready to invest money, and the bank that generates a billion dollars of income from the state budget,” said Yuriy Draganchuk.

According to him, our state is currently not ready to sell this bank. However, it cannot be ruled out in the future.

“We have the interest of foreign investors in two state-owned banks. These are Ukrgasbank and Sens Bank, and we are actively preparing them for sale. We received these signals at the end of last year, beginning in the fall,” said the Deputy Minister of Finance.

The Ministry of Finance will soon hire financial advisors for these banks. In addition, the Ministry of Finance, together with the World Bank, is working on changes to the laws on the sale of these banks in order to make it as transparent as possible and sell to a truly serious potential investor.

“I will say more, these potential investors are pushing us… At the same time, these banks are preparing internally, and I am quite positive, and I want to sell these two banks this year. And the bank that generates the most income in this country is not yet ready for sale,” Yuriy Draganchuk emphasized.
