According to UkrAgroConsult, this year’s rapeseed area is 6% lower than last year’s figure, and the yield is 7% lower than the average for the last three years. Svitlana Kupreyeva, oil market analyst at UkrAgroConsult, informs about this.
According to her, the estimates take into account the weather risks observed during the period of growth and ripening of rapeseed, as well as the results of harvesting at the first stage. Therefore, the predicted rapeseed yield is 21% lower.
But last season was dynamic and unpredictable. The lack of official data for most of the season led to dynamic forecasts and a wide range of them in the market. In addition, the overestimation of the official rape harvest data, which is happening for the second year in a row, is becoming atypical.
Rapeseed crop (estimated by UkrAgroConsult):
- rapeseed area – (+10% until 2022/23 MR)
- yield – (+3.8%)
- harvest – 4,666 thousand tons (+28%, record).
