The average salary of a teacher in Ukraine in 2023 was approximately 13 thousand hryvnias. The Ministry of Education and Science told how much Ukrainian educators should earn.
Currently, teachers’ salaries do not even reach the average in Ukraine. This was noted by educational ombudsman Serhiy Gorbachev in an interview for “Ukrainian Pravda. Life”.
What should be the salary of teachers
According to Serhii Gorbachev, Ukrainian teachers should receive a higher than average salary.
In my opinion, a teacher should earn the average salary plus 50%. I think so. Currently, teachers do not even have an average, – said Gorbachev.
Let us add that according to Work.ua, the average salary of Ukrainians in general reaches 19.5 thousand hryvnias as of the beginning of 2024. According to the calculations of the Pension Fund of Ukraine, this figure varied from 14.9 thousand to 15.4 thousand hryvnias for the first three months of 2024.
We should add that the salaries of some teachers were increased in Dnipro. The mayor of Dnipro, Borys Filatov, even earlier promised to provide up to 15% salary increase for Methodist teachers and music directors working in kindergartens, schools and institutions of vocational education. During the session of the City Council on July 24, the announced allowances were approved.
